A large online jewellery portal having about 70,000 different products in its catalog with different colors and sizes. - Problem:
The jewellery company had a static site in which a new HTML page had to be manually created for every new product. This made its operations extremely cumbersome and services of an expert was required every time a new product was added to the catalog. Notwithstanding this, the company had to use services of different vendors for performing different operations. There was no interface for the customer to interact after a purchase was made or request for a service. - Solution:
CNPL developed a simple yet user-friendly online Product Catalog Management System that enabled the backend administrator to create ‘n’ levels of category i.e. the administrator could easily categorise the product under different headings. The administrator could add product specifications, price, images and also create a customised home-page for every product it added. Also, each product had a different set of attributes colour, size etc. These attributes could be easily configured in the application. The administrator had a set of predesigned product view templates available and could easily select a template to be applied to the product. This gave the company a unique advantage of creating an attractive catalog for every product. The shopping cart, payment gateway integration, product fulfillment options and shipment tracking was seamlessly integrated into the solution that made it possible for the customer to instantly receive online orders for any product. An inventory management module was also integrated with the solution thus making it possible for the customer to calculate delivery lead-time for orders placed. A comprehensive Reporting module made it possible for the administrator to keep track of all transactions in the site.
A separate customer portal was also integrated with the solution that made it possible for the customers to log independently and track all interactions with the company. This added dynamism to the site as well as made it attractive for customers.
The store-front was made very simple, attractive and user-friendly by allowing visiting customers to search for products on different parameters and instantly place an order. - Platform:
The application was built on Windows platform with IIS as the web server, C# as the middle-tier application language and MSSQL as the backend database. - Conclusion:
